Favorite Fargason Outdoor Product
My favorite outdoor product is Scentite's TentChair Magnum, this amazing Blind/Chair combo is just the ticket for me as I am a stalk hunter who is constantly looking for an upper hand while on foot. The TentChair gives me that upper hand with quick deployment, solid construction, and unmatched quality. "It is just one of those tools that comes along, that just having it gives you sense of complete preparedness. I may not use it every time I take it but I have it when I need it!".
Favorite Outdoor Story
Well this is easy, it has to be the story behind the picture above. That Turkey is one of my favorite accomplishmnets. A few years back I joined Bill Fargeson at his hunting grounds in South Western Alabama for a spring Turkey hunt. It was late in the season, the birds were henned up and had about as much interest in coming to my calls as my wife does after I have been in the woods for 3 days. It ain't happenin'. We tried every trick we could and had thought about calling in for airstrike at least a couple of times.
Finally on the last day, literaly an hour prior to our planned departure, Bill and I decided to split up in hopes of finding that one "ignorant Tom" (cause at this point I new he would have be stupid to come in). Bill headed out to check some fields and Jeff the Camera Man and I climbed into one of ScenTite's quad stand Blinds looking over a huge clear cut field, for the view. We could not have been in the blind more than ten minutes when this big Tom showed himself at about 250 yds, so I loaded my 300 WinMag, NO NO NO, but that is what I was thinkin'. We watched for about 5 minutes when my radio started chirpping and it was Bill and he had found the Dumb Tom.
We had a decision to make so I decided to do what I love STALK! Yep thats right, Jeff and I climbed out the ScenTite stand and ran about a 1/4 of a mile bent over along a skidder trail, looking about as gracefull as Jakes flirtin with my decoy, we sat up at the end of the clear cut hoping the Tom would come our way. I told Jeff to pick a spot and get comfortable while I "did my thing". I didn't get 20 yds when I looked up and this Tom was standing about 20yds in front of me, looking dead at me. I froze so hard I did't think I would ever thaw out, the Tom was so caught up in finding his girls he turned left and strutted behind a small pile of brush.
As I began to turn to get ready, the girls popped there heads and I new I had been caught like the kid with his chubby little hand in grandmas cookie jar. I froze again, (much more of this freezing and thawing and I would smell like bad venison) I knew I only had one chance so I just ingnored the hens and began to turn for a shot I moved slower than a husband approaching his wife at a clearance rack. Then it happened the ol' Tom popped his head up and he was right in my sights. I squeezed the trigger and rest is Scentite history. Not to mention it was all on tape!
